Industrial ton bags, also known as flexible container bags (FIBC), space bags, or large bags, are large containers used for transporting bulk materials such as particles, powders, sheets, etc. Its specifications are very diverse and require comprehensive selection based on material characteristics, transportation methods, and storage conditions.
1, Divided by size and load capacity
This is the most basic specification.
Standard capacity:
500 kg/0.5 cubic meter: commonly used in situations where there are strict weight restrictions for single handling, or for materials with high density.
1000 kg/1 cubic meter: This is the most common standard specification, which is "one ton bag". The size is usually about 90cm * 90cm * 110cm (length, width, and height), depending on the density of the material.
1500 kg/1.5 cubic meters
2000 kg/2 cubic meters: suitable for light foam goods with lower density.
Important parameters:
Safety factor (SF): This is a key indicator for measuring the load-bearing safety of ton bags. The ratio of the maximum tensile force that the bag can withstand to the actual load capacity. Common ones include:
5: 1: Ordinary materials, conventional handling (such as pallet forklifts).
6: 1: Recommended for general occasions with high requirements.
8: 1: Used for high-density materials, frequent lifting or export transportation, with higher safety.
Filling weight: It must be clearly marked and overloading is strictly prohibited.
2, Divided by structure and shape
The shape directly affects the stability, stacking ability, and space utilization of ton bags.
Shape:
Round ton bag: The bag body is cylindrical. The sling is usually circular in shape, with uniform force distribution, making it more suitable for lifting. Occupying relatively large space.
Square ton bag: The bag body is rectangular or cubic. At present, it is the most widely used due to its ability to stack tightly, maximize the use of container and shelf space, and have good stability.
Structure (top and bottom):
Loading port:
Fully open: The top is fully opened and sealed with stitching or zippers, with fast loading speed and easy manual or mechanical cleaning.
Non fully open type: There is a small filling port at the top (with an inner lining bag), which is used for materials with high moisture and dust requirements.
Unloading port:
No discharge port: The material needs to be dumped from the top or the bottom seam needs to be opened for unloading.
There is a discharge port: there is a discharge port at the center of the bottom, which is divided into:
Simple discharge port: When unloading, the rope needs to be untied.
Flange type discharge port: can be connected to pipelines to achieve closed and dust-free discharge.
Valve type discharge outlet: equipped with butterfly valves and other control devices, the discharge flow is controllable.
3, Divided by material, base fabric, and craftsmanship
This determines the strength, durability, and applicable environment of the ton bag.
Base fabric material:
Polypropylene (PP): The most commonly used, cost-effective, acid and alkali resistant, but has poor aging resistance (especially UV).
Polyethylene (PE): softer and better resistance to low temperatures.
Polyester (PET): High strength, strong resistance to UV aging, suitable for long-term outdoor storage or repeated use.
Coated/coated ton bags:
PP film coating: Covering a layer of PP film on PP woven fabric, it has excellent moisture-proof, leak proof, and dust-proof properties and can be used for fine powder materials.
PE coating: Apply a layer of PE for better sealing and a certain anti-static ability.
Strap design:
Circular sling: It is placed at the bottom of the ton bag to evenly distribute force during lifting, making it the safest and most load-bearing design, especially suitable for heavy or frequent lifting.
V-shaped sling/cross shaped sling: The sling is sewn on both sides or four corners of the upper part of the bag, and the bag is closed when lifted to prevent material overflow. Widely used.
Number of lifting straps/ropes: single lifting, double lifting, four lifting rings, etc. Four lifting rings are the most common and the lifting is balanced.
4, Divided by loading and unloading methods
Tray type ton bag: The bottom is designed with a channel that can be inserted into the forklift arm, making it convenient for forklift pallet handling without the need for lifting equipment. It is a commonly used type for short distance transportation in warehouses.
Lifting type ton bag: designed with lifting straps, requiring the use of cranes, hoists, and other equipment for loading and unloading. The vast majority of ton bags belong to this category.
5, Divided by special functions and safety performance
Design for specific materials and environments.
Anti static ton bag:
Type A: Ordinary PP/PE ton bag, without any anti-static measures. Not suitable for use in flammable and explosive dust environments.
Type B: Using conductive wire (such as stainless steel wire) woven into the base fabric, which can prevent brush shaped discharge by discharging between the conductive wires. This is the most common type of anti-static.
Type C: Use conductive yarn (such as carbon fiber) to weave bags and straps, and export charges through grounding. The anti-static performance is the most reliable, but the cost is high.
Type D: Using electrostatic field dissipative materials (special fibers) to slowly neutralize charges through low-energy corona discharge without grounding. Easy to use, it is a new technology in recent years.
Conductive ton bag: usually refers to Type C and must be strictly grounded for use.
Food/pharmaceutical grade ton bags:
Use raw materials (PP/PE) that comply with food grade standards such as FDA and EU.
The production environment is clean and usually equipped with disposable inner lining bags to ensure that the materials are pollution-free.
UV resistant ton bag: Adding UV stabilizers to the raw materials or using PET material, suitable for outdoor storage.
Box type ton bag: On the basis of a square ton bag, there are reinforced frames or hard plates around it to keep the bag body square, neat in appearance, and extremely stable in stacking, but the cost is relatively high.
